Nominations for 2020 Winter UMPDA Board Election

Get involved in shaping policy that directly impacts postdocs and improves the postdoc experience!  Consider running or nominate a colleague for one of the open positions on the UM Postdoctoral Association board. The UMPDA board is seeking nominations for the following positions:

Co-president: Run monthly board meetings and Rackham postdoc orientations with University administrators. Contact the current co-chairs Dan Schill and Caity Holmes at umpdacochairs@umich.edu
Treasurer: Organize and co-host events that promote diversity, equity and inclusion (such as the Spectrum Center). Contact the current chair Sirisha Sirobhushanam
Networking Co-chair: Organize monthly coffee hours, social events and lead efforts on Postdoc Appreciation Week. Contact the current co-chairs Varun Gadkari
Postdoctoral Affairs: Run our Travel Grants initiative and annual OPFA award.  Contact the current co-chair Charlotte Vanacker
Ethics: Coordinate conflict resolution within the UMPDA and for the postdoc community. Contact the current chair Joseph Mastron

Please, refer to the UMPDA bylaws for a more detailed description of the position duties and responsibilities. It is a two-year term with a minimum one year commitment. Interested candidates should email a copy of their position statements (a 500 words describing your qualifications and goals for the position), CV, and a photo of themselves to umpdacochairs@umich.edu. Postdocs nominated by their peers will be contacted by the election committee to confirm interest.

Statement should include:

(1) Reasons why you are qualified for the position
(2) Your goals for your tenure in the position
(3) Statement should be limited to 500 words

Timeline for the 2020 UMPDA board election:

Nov 23 – Dec 10: Candidate nomination period
Dec 7 – Dec 13: Submit questions for the candidates
Dec 14: Virtual Coffee Hour with the candidates
Dec 14 – Dec 18: Voting
Dec 21: Announcement of the new Board membres
